Frequently Asked Questions

Searching for the perfect wedding gown can sometimes leave you with lots of questions - what, where, when and how.

When should I start looking for my gown?

Ideally 12 to 6 months before the date of your wedding. This will give you time to find styles you do like and some that you don't.

When should I order my gown?

About 9 months before the date of your wedding. This allows for delivery which can take up to 20 weeks for some dresses, plus fittings

How long does an appointment take?

We have allocated two hours for each appointment. This provides you with a chance to try on different gowns and discuss your requirements with us, and have fun!

I have seen a gown I really like on the designers website can I try it?

If you see a gown from Alice James Trudy Lee, we are able to request sample gowns if we dont hold as a sample.  Please discuss with us when arranging your appointment as gowns are subject to availability.  There is a nominal charge of £15 for each designer for this service which is payable in advance which will be refunded if you choose one of the gowns. To make it more cost effective we suggest that you select a range of gowns from one designer

Do I need to order my veil and tiara at the same time as the dress?

This might be a good idea.  We order our tiaras and veils so please leave plenty of time to ensure that they are delivered in time for your hair appointments.  When you try gowns on we will look at veils and tiaras as they can totally alter how you view a gown.

My dress has been delivered, what about fittings?

Fittings are nearly always essential and some alteration will need to take place if only the length as manufactured gowns arrive in a standard length. Lavender Rose does not undertake alterations but have the details of local seamstresses who will be able to help you.

Are the cost of alterations included in the gown price?

No.  The cost of the alterations needs to be agreed with the seamstress and will depend on the amount of work required.  Please note that any agreement for the alterations is between you and the seamstress and Lavender Rose takes no responsibility for any disputes or disagreements

How do I pay for my gown?

We require a 50% deposit before we place the order with the designers. This is non refundable.  The balance must be paid once the dress has been delivered to us and before collection. If you are paying by cheque this must have cleared before we can let you take the gown.

Please note that this does not affect your statutory rights.

We accept payment by cheque, cash and major credit/debit cards.

Do you accept returns on bridal wear?

Only if the gown is faulty, and is returned to us for inspection with the tags still intact and no alterations taken place. Any faults must be notified within 7 days of receipt of the dress. Unfortunately if you change your mind, we are unable to accept returns or refund you
